The Art of Advertising.

Image
Art of Advertising. Advertising is everywhere. From the moment we scroll through social media to walking past billboards on the street, businesses are constantly finding ways to grab our attention. But what makes an advertisement effective? What strategies do brands use to cut through the noise and leave a lasting impression? In this blog, we’ll dive into the world of advertising and explore some key strategies that make campaigns stand out. Audience The first rule of effective advertising is knowing your audience. Who are you trying to reach? What do they care about? A campaign targeting teenagers will look vastly different from one aimed at working professionals. Successful brands use market research to analyze demographics, behaviors, and preferences, ensuring their message resonates with the right people. For instance, Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign appeals to a wide audience, but the messaging feels personal whether you're a seasoned athlete or someone starting their fitness jou...

Image
MLK/FBI Documentary and the Modern Fight for Civil Rights: Lessons from the Past for Today’s Activists The MLK/FBI documentary, directed by Sam Pollard, gives a fresh look at Martin Luther King Jr.’s life by exploring the FBI's secretive and intense surveillance campaign against him during the civil rights movement. With newly declassified files and incredible archival footage, the film shows how the U.S. government treated MLK one of its own civil rights leaders as a national threat. Same Story, Different Time: Then vs. Now MLK/FBI digs into how the FBI tried to sabotage King’s work by wiretapping him, gathering dirt, and even attempting to blackmail him into silence. Fast-forward to today, and many civil rights activists still face some form of surveillance. Thanks to social media, modern activists can reach more people, but it also means they can be more easily monitored. This documentary makes us think: Is there a limit to how far the government should go in watchin...

Multitrack Processing in FOIA: A Streamlined Approach to Public Records.

Image
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is crucial for public access to government information, yet high request volumes and varying complexities often lead to delays. To address this, agencies use "multitrack processing" to sort requests by complexity, speeding up simpler requests while allocating resources to more complex ones. Multitrack processing categorizes FOIA requests into three main tracks: 1. Simple Track: For straightforward requests requiring minimal review, often processed quickly. 2. Complex Track: For voluminous or sensitive requests needing more time and resources. 3. Expedited Track: Reserved for urgent requests concerning public safety or issues of broad public interest. This system enables agencies to manage FOIA requests efficiently by tailoring timelines and resources based on request complexity and some of the benefits include the efficiency, since simple requests are processed faster without waiting behind complex ones, the transparency improved response...

Costarrican Soccer Player Journey.

Image
The Journey of Erick Rojas By: Juanita Tibocha At 23, Erick Rojas embodies the spirit of perseverance, balancing a life of soccer and academics thousands of miles from his hometown in Costa Rica. Growing up in a modest neighborhood in Heredia, he spent his childhood on soccer fields, dribbling a worn-out soccer ball with dreams of playing professionally. Little did he know that his passion for the game would lead him to the United States, where he is now a senior at a competitive college, navigating the worlds of soccer and computer science at Clarke University. From an early age, Erick  was captivated by the beautiful game. “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t playing soccer,” he recalls, a smile lighting up his face. He would wake up early, lacing up his cleats before sunrise, practicing with friends in Rosabal Stadium in Heredia. His dedication paid off when he joined a professional team that honed his skills and showcased his talent. As he approached his final years of high s...

Donald Trump former president and current presidential candidate for the upcoming elections to be held on November 5 of the current year, Trump suffered a second assassination attempt last Sunday, September 15, 2024, becoming a wake-up call to the authorities and all the American people. A quiet and daily Sunday in the life of former President Donald Trump became what could be his last day of life, the situation he lived in West Palm Beach in Florida, while playing golf an individual infiltrated his property and allegedly tried to shoot Trump, operation carried out without success due to intelligence work of the agents in charge of Trump's security.  Bulls Game For lovers and followers of sports, the adaptation to modernity has been evident, whether in rules, style of play, fans and / or advertising. I think that as followers of the sport we can be able to recognize and demonstrate the difference between the games in the past and today, being the games of the past more enjoyed and focused on the sport, the athletes and the naturalness of the game, referring to how advertising, the halftime show often has more virality and importance than the game itself, thus changing the objective of the games turning them into a sport with spectacle. To begin with we can observe the following image of a current game, where a little of the show and interaction of the production with the public as seen in the image, the fans are always absorbing advertising indirectly or directly, in the image, we see how the advertising team of the bulls invites us as fans to participate in games and involves us in the dynamics, where then these awards involv...

The big city.

Image
The Big City Curiosity is one of the best qualities that people have, and having the opportunity to live new experiences, know new places and discover what life is like in other places is a very nice and interesting feeling. Personally, I think that as a foreigner I am more curious and intrigued to know what life is like here in the United States and Chicago in this case is the city that reflects the opportunities, dreams and diversity found in a single city. In the image we can see the same iconic sign of the city of Chicago and the contrast of night and day, in the image on the right is the image in the day where you can see the trees without leaves due to winter and strong winds that represent Chicago, behind the tall buildings reflecting the breadth of the city and the full view of the cloudy sky all this generating the perfect definition of a city of hardworking people and full of art and passion. On the other hand, in the image on the left is the same sign at night, without much ...

Perspectives Losing physical capacity can be a condition that is out of our hands, in this case, the story of life and overcoming of a woman is shown as an example of overcoming and life. To start with some context it is important to know the background of these images, which are the graphic sample of an accident lived by an artist some years ago. In the images we find reflected sculptures of the bones of the human body and how it looks in a healthy way and without any injury, sculpture created by the same woman who suffered the accident showing herself as a reflection of herself being healthy and the painful final position in the accident, which for her being an artist was decisive, "taking away" the possibilities of continuing with her passion, which led to a depression because of the few chances she had to return to make sculptures or paintings. The images and the concept of this artist is based on making us reflect about the physical capabilities that our body offers us t...

Quality time!

Image
Quality time      In the midst of the stress that classes, training and work can generate for a college student, I think it is very important to learn to manage time and be able to set aside quality time for ourselves and with the people we love and love us, this, adding the winter and the cold that usually generates a depressing effect on people, makes even more important the company and time with the people who warm our souls.      S'mores for me was something new when I arrived in the United States, so for me it means strengthening my relationship with my new friends in Clarke, so in the image for me reflects the search for warmth and sweetness that bring moments like these to our lives, looking for a little escape from the responsibilities and possible stress that we present in our daily lives by performing a different activity.           In the image I think it represents the warmth and sweetness that we talked abou...

soccer & school.

Image
Being a student athlete is something that involves many types of responsibilities and burdens, whether they are emotional burdens, workloads or even physical burdens, I am sure that many of us who are part of the visual literacy class understand this responsibility that comes with being a student athlete.  In the last few weeks as a team we have increased loads, so we have more hours of training and a higher level of intensity even though we are not competing this semester, but this has generated a higher level of fatigue, which makes it a little more difficult to perform in activities such as homework for college, class schedules and work and concentration in class. Many times as athletes we have energy peaks that help us to have a better concentration and performance in the activities we perform, but unfortunately, there are days when those energy peaks are only enough for sports or for classes, showing a low performance in any of the two. So I think it is important that we are a...

Principles of desing.

Image
Art in Clarke      From my perspective and having had this different experience in the class, I think it is important to emphasize the amount of talent and creativity among us, allowing us to learn and open our perspective to different activities.      The works that most caught my attention are in the following image, because they are works in which you can see the intentions of the artists, as for example in the work of the skull with horns we can find how the artist seeks to reflect a symmetrical balance, because dividing the picture in half we can see how both sides tend to have harmony and the same features, this being the goal of the author. On the other hand, in the following image again we can see the author's intention to use symmetry, but in this case it was also carried out the use of color contrast and textures, evidenced in the black box where you see the silhouette of a human body but on both sides is reflected in reverse color but without los...

Journalism.

Image
I think it is important to recognize how over time aspects such as self-care has become more and more important, by this I mean the increased importance of self-love and strategies to achieve this goal of self-care, journalism has become one of the strategies recommended by psychologists to their patients in search of an emotional adjustment generating an impact and a positive response.      My personal goal when I started using this strategy was to find a way to put my thoughts and feelings into something physical (writing in a notebook) in order to release or reflect better about the situation and personally it has been very effective, I have found a way to relax and reflect in order to understand myself better, this exercise has also helped me to reflect on the interpersonal relationships I have.     The other aspect that makes journalism important is because it helps me to organize my time, my tasks and my activities a little more, helping me to fulfill my r...

Home Everywhere.

Image
For me home is everywhere, from the people who accompany you and the experiences we live. I have been making a new place my home for three years now and it has been a very interesting and beautiful process, in spite of the ups and downs that have crossed my path I have always found a reason to be thankful for the people around me and the situations that have made me learn. I would like to start by explaining what my childhood home is based on and that is the one I know best, in my country and with my family and friends, where I first learned to do everything. My home was initially formed by my parents living together, my older brother and my 3 older sisters, being me the youngest of my siblings, we also had my paternal grandparents and some very close aunts, who for me were my home when I was younger, as well, there are moments of which I have intact memories and make me feel at home just thinking about them, like for example the Sundays that were with my family, goi...

Soccer meaning in my life.

Image
Personally, soccer has given meaning to my life, and although it may sound a bit exaggerated to some, that's how I see it. Over the years I have discovered what makes me feel alive and without a doubt soccer tops this list. During these 11 years playing soccer, I realized how important it has been for my personal development because it has forced me to go through different situations full of new emotions and taking me to live unique moments, like creating new friendships, in my case I found my best friends thanks to soccer, and it is incredible the complicity and support you feel when you create a bond with a person and have the same goals, soccer helped me to create these strong relationships with people who understand the rhythm of life that you lead when you become an athlete, knowing that many times you have to sacrifice time with family and friends, having to sacrifice sleeping late on the weekend, even time at school and classes but always knowing that you have a responsibili...

Who I am?

Image
Hola, hola!  I'm Juani and I'm the creator of this blog, to begin with I would like you to get to know me a little bit and give you some context about what my blog is about. My name is Juanita Tibocha, I'm 20 years old and I'm the youngest daughter among 5 children, I'm Colombian but since 3 years ago I live in the United States, I currently study psychology and play soccer for the Clarke University team, being soccer my biggest passion and having been practicing it for 11 years, other of my hobbies are dancing and photography although I've never developed any of these two skills to the fullest. Starting this blog was a bit complex because I think that creativity and expressing myself in written media are not one of my strengths, so I decided to make the blog about moments of my life that I have been able to capture in photos, which are the proof of different stages of life and circumstances that we as human beings go through, reflected in the captured images wh...
